Sunny Point Aggregates to build new Louisiana Fac Sand Facility

Sunny Point Aggregates will build a new sand and proppants processing facility at The Port of Caddo-Bossier, located on the Red River Waterway just south of Shreveport-Bossier, La. , according to the Shreveport Times.

“We are thrilled to have Sunny Point Aggregates here at The Port,” Justyn Dixon, president and CEO of North Louisiana Economic Partnership said. “Each time a company grows in our region, it makes an incredible impact and speaks highly of North Louisiana.”

This will be this company’s third location in the Arkansas-Louisiana-Texas area. When this facility is completed it will occupy a 43-acre tract of riverfront property in an area known as Scopini Island, located in Bossier Parish.

“We are huge supporters of The Port you know,” Shreveport Mayor Adrian Perkins said. “Half of The Port board is made up of Shreveport commissioners and half are Bossier commissioners. The Port represents our unity here in this area.”

“This project is a win-win for this area,” Walter Bigby, president of the Caddo-Bossier Port Commission.

Sunny Point Aggregates plans to remove 45 million tons of frac sand from an oxbow lake off the Red River. The company anticipates the project will generate 3 million tons of frac sand a year.

“The dredging will create 40 new jobs for the area. At the same time, the dredging will help to alleviate flooding along the Red River,” said Bigby.

Bill Bowden, owner of Sunny Point Aggregates, said, “We are just excited to get started and excited to be able to add our community. I’ve lived here. my kids are growing up here and investing in the community is important.”

Construction on this project is expected to be completed by August 2022, and operations should begin in September.
